Create new designs with new fonts in Windows 10

How to Install Fonts on Windows 10. If you want to create a new document with prominent text, you might consider installing a new font. They can be found online for free, as part of a font kit, or purchased. If you want others to see these fonts, you will need to use them in static files such as PDFs or images. Otherwise, you will need to provide the font itself.

How to Install Fonts on Windows 10

You can install fonts in Windows 10 in several ways. You can download and install fonts manually from online sources, you can install fonts directly from the Microsoft Store, or you can use third-party font managers to install fonts for you. If you want to know how to install fonts in Windows 10, you need to do the following.


Where to find the new Windows 10 fonts

There are several online sources for free font downloads. You can, for example, download free fonts from the Google Fonts collection, which has over a thousand fonts available.


Other online sources of free fonts include Font Squirrel and Urban Fonts, but this list is far from complete. You can even create your own font using the free FontStruct service Whether you download an existing font or create your own, the font file itself is usually in TTF or OTF file formats.

If you're a Photoshop user, you can use an Adobe Creative Cloud membership and download fonts through this service. You can also install fonts on Windows 10 directly from the Microsoft Store

Install Fonts in Windows 10 Using Windows Font Viewer

If you downloaded a suitable TTF or OTF font file from an internet source, there are several ways to install it. The first way is to view the font file itself. The window will allow you to preview the font and install it using the Windows Font Viewer.

Install fonts in Windows 10 using the system fonts folder

However, if you are installing multiple fonts at once, installing the fonts using the Windows Font Viewer will be a slow and time-consuming process. Instead, you can manually install the fonts by copying them directly to the Windows system font folder (C: Windows Fonts).

  1. To do this, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C: Windows Fonts folder. In another Explorer window, drag the files to the Fonts folder. Or copy the files, then right-click> Paste in the Fonts folder itself.


After the files are copied or moved into place, the fonts will become available in your other applications and installed Windows software. However, you may need to restart any open applications to be able to view the fonts.

Install fonts in Windows 10 using Windows Settings

If you are unable to install fonts on Windows 10 that you downloaded from the Internet using the method above, you can drag and drop them to the Fonts menu in Windows Settings instead.

  1. To access this menu, right-click the Windows Start menu and select Settings.

  2. In Windows Settings, click Personalization> Fonts. At the top of the menu, there is an option to drag and drop font files. If you've downloaded the OTF or TTF font files, you can find and select them in a separate Windows Explorer window, and then drag and drop them into the open Windows Settings window.



Once installed, the fonts will be ready to use immediately.

Find and install fonts from Microsoft Store

If you can't find new fonts that you like, you may be able to find them in the Microsoft Store, the built-in Windows 10 app store. Instead of manually searching for them, you can access a list of available fonts to download directly from the settings menu. Windows.

  1. You can open Windows Settings by right-clicking the Start menu and choosing Settings.

  2. In Windows Preferences, select Personalization> Fonts. From the Fonts menu, click Get More Fonts From Microsoft Store

Using third-party font managers

If you're having trouble installing new fonts in Windows 10, you might prefer to use a third-party font management tool. These tools provide a comprehensive font solution that allows you to directly download, manage, and update new fonts.

One of the font managers you can use is FontBase, a cross-platform font management tool for Windows, Mac, and Linux. FontBase is free to use and lets you quickly install fonts from the Google Fonts collection without downloading and installing them manually.

  1. First, download and install FontBase. After installing it, you can view the installed fonts in the main FontBase window. If you want to install a new font from the Google Fonts collection, select the Google option under the Suppliers category.

  2. FontBase uses the activation system to enable and disable fonts. When the application is open, the activated fonts become available for use in other software. When closed, fonts are disabled and unavailable. This is to limit the use of your system resources. To activate the font, check the box next to the font in the Google list. A green checkmark means the font is active.


  1. If you want, you can grab a font from FontBase and install it manually so that it always remains available. To do this, right-click the activated font and select the Go to Font option. This will open the location of the font in Windows Explorer.


  1. Double-click the font file to open it in the Windows Font Viewer. When it opens, click the Install button.



If you choose to permanently install the FontBase, it will be available for use immediately, whether the FontBase is open or not.

Create new designs with new fonts in Windows 10

Once you know how to install fonts in Windows 10, you can unleash your creative side. New documents, images, professional infographics, and more can benefit from one or two new fonts, especially if you're tired of seeing the same old Times New Roman or Arial 12 font in your documents.

Once your fonts are installed, you can follow these steps. You can design and create a multi-page PDF in Photoshop, allowing you to integrate your new font style into a static document. You can even add fonts directly into Photoshop, with even more fonts available to install and use as part of an Adobe Creative Cloud membership.
